• Oregon is a step closer to its goal of opening 25,000 affordable housing options over five years, with the completion of a new apartment building in Tigard. The complex, called Viewfinder, has 81 units — all of which have already been filled — for families earning 30-60% of the area’s median income. 🏘️ (KOIN) 
• Yesterday, the City of Gresham celebrated its first Fire Academy graduation ceremony since November 2020. Twelve recruits graduated from the three-month program + are joining the Gresham Fire and Emergency Services Department. The city is looking to hire 12 more firefighters and start the next Fire Academy in March 2023. 🚒

• The University of Oregon has completed its $60.35 million purchase of the 19-acre former Concordia University campus in Northeast Portland. • 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams visited Portland this week to promote his new cannabis lifestyle brand, “Highsman.” The NFL legend is donating proceeds from the brand’s merchandise to organizations that support mental health, like Athletes for Care. 🍁 (KOIN)  
• Portland-based Meyer Memorial Trust is partnering with a United Nations-backed network of investors to adopt an environmental, social + governance framework for its investments. For example, the foundation will use Principles for Responsible Investment’s resources to invest in climate solutions — as opposed to just divesting from fossil fuels. (Portland Business Journal)

• Centennial School District and local nonprofit Depave have been working together to replace asphalt with active green spaces at three elementary schools: Powell Butte, Oliver, and Patrick Lynch. The latter is the only school left on the list, and you can help pry up chunks of concrete there on Sat., July 16. 🦋
