Someone’s got a wood chip on their shoulder. Stumptown Fil, the Oregon Zoo’s meteorologically clairvoyant beaver, has predicted six more weeks of winter for Portland. Keeper Christina Parr is doubtful. “Last year, Filbert predicted an early spring, and in April we had to close the zoo because of snow and ice.” 🦫

Sports
Count it. Damian Lillard has been named an All-Star for the seventh time in his NBA career. Only Clyde Drexler has represented the Trail Blazers more (he did it eight times) among the league’s elite. Catch this season’s All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 5 p.m. on TNT. 🏀 (KGW)
Opening
Grape Ape, a natural wine bar focusing on wide-ranging glass pours, vino-based cocktails, and vermouth made in house, will open on Southeast Yamhill Street this spring. Bottle shop by day, the 700-sqft space will later shift to sit-down service with tapas to munch on. 🍷 (Eater Portland)
$715,000. That’s how much federal funding Oregon lawmakers have dedicated to studying the feasibility of moving Mt. Hood Summit Rest Area. The pull-off, east of Government Camp on Highway 26, was originally constructed in the 1950s. Proponents of redevelopment feel increased traffic has created safety issues. 🏔️ (KATU)
Listen
Apple TV will be the new home of MLS Season Pass for the upcoming season, so ahead of kickoff, Apple Music released playlists inspired by each team in the league. The Timbers mix includes sing-a-longs, thematic tunes, and plenty of Portland hits like “Feel It Still” and “Caroline.” 🎵
Kids
Registration for Summer Safari camps at VillaSport Athletic Club in Beaverton opens Saturday, Feb. 4. Starting Monday, June 26, kids ages 5-12 are invited to swim, make crafts with friends, play games, and more. Each of the nine weeks will have a theme, like “Zany Zoology,” “Paint the Wild,” and “Outdoor Excursions.” đź§

Editor’s pick: I’m not so sure I buy the seasonal declarations from Stumptown Fil... or Punxsutawney Phil. Despite the absurdly cold temperatures we had this week, it seems spring is right around the corner. Daffodils are about to bloom and the birds seem more sprightly with their singing and searching for earthworms.
Hopefully I didn’t just jinx it.
