This year, instead of grabbing a last-minute present from the store, why not get the mom figure in your life a gift that is truly unique?

To help you out, we’ve created a gift guide featuring items from our online store, Six & Main, as well as products we love from other popular brands.

Moms are important to us all year, but Mother’s Day is when we can really show how special they truly are to us. From presents for the food and beverage fan to the art collector, let this gift guide lead you to the perfect present.

The outdoor enthusiast
The art collector
  • Add to mom’s art collection with pieces featuring dramatic skies, panoramic mountain vistas, and small-town area street scenes by Jeff Pittman Art.
  • For coastal vibes, explore colorful artwork by Dream a little ART SC.
  • If the walls are already full of beautiful art, fear not. This modern ceramic vase is the perfect decorative accent. Bonus: this vibrant coffee table book is chock-full of exquisite scenes from Mykonos.
The fashion lover
While this list is a great way to start shopping for mom, we’re working to grow our store, Six and Main, and would love to add more local vendors. If you know any local brands we should be promoting, let us know.

Discover Hidden Oasis, Northeast Portland’s relaxing sensory room

When stress bubbles to the surface, finding a quiet place where you can recenter your sense of peace is crucial. Northeast Portland’s Alberta neighborhood is home to such a spot: Hidden Oasis.

Billed as a “unique contactless experience designed to relax your mind, body, and senses,” Hidden Oasis opened quietly in December of 2022. We recently stopped by to try out an experience and, spoiler alert, we left feeling very relaxed.

Owner Jeremy Osslund greeted us as we entered off the street and explained that Hidden Oasis was designed with particular attention to the needs of people with autism. Individual rooms are stocked with high-end massage chairs, soothing lights, plants, and a tea bar with allergy-friendly cookies (made by Jeremy’s other venture — Portland’s Best Cookies).

Jeremy excused himself from the room. We informed the virtual assistant that we were ready to start our 30-minute adventure and proceeded to spend the next half-hour reconnecting with our inner calm. Simple, straightforward, and quick — but wonderfully rejuvenating.

From the editor
Talk about two birds, one stone — last Saturday, I checked two Northeast Alberta Street spots off of my to-visit list: Kulfi and Bar Cala. If you also avoid dairy, I definitely recommend trying Kulfi’s Mango Coconut Falooda. It has a lot of fun texture going on with vermicelli noodles, basil seeds, and coconut flakes, and was the perfect size for sharing. Just know that this spot doesn’t have any sit-down seating.

Bar Cala — a tropical oasis awash in shades of soft flamingo pink — exceeded my expectations. The friendly service, refreshing drinks and food (the ceviche was some of the best I’ve ever had), and the atmosphere put it at the top of my list of places to take visitors.
