Family-friendly music and fun at Bridgeport Village all summer long
Sunshine and shopping — what more could you need? | Photo by Bridgeport Village
Nearing the completion of its $35 million refresh, Bridgeport Village is ready to boost its cachet as a destination shopping center.
The Tigard mall, located just 15 minutes south of Portland on I-5, will host a variety of events and activities this summer aimed at families looking for kid-friendly fun on the weekends.
At the top of these attractions is the Live Music on the Village Green series, where visitors can enjoy concerts every Friday (5-7 p.m.), Saturday (3-5 p.m. + 6-8 p.m.), and Sunday (2-4 p.m.), now until Saturday, Sept. 30.
Summer Saturdays will be a chance for local children’s musicians like Aaron Nigel Smith to take the stage and for retailers like Little Kitchen Academy to provide additional entertainment. The park-like atmosphere is also ideal for playtime and a picnic.
Regal Summer Movie Express + My Way Matinee
With school out, Regal Bridgeport invites families to take advantage of $2 tickets to its first movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Also, sensory-friendly screenings (lights turned up and volume turned down) will be offered on select Saturdays.
Mike Bennett Studios x Bridgeport Village
On the last Saturday of July and August from 12 to 2 p.m., the cartoon artist and “Public Joy Creator” will host a pop-up featuring some of his favorite characters and colorful creations available to purchase.

Fall in love with the city even more with our Ultimate City Guide. | Graphic by 6AM City
We all know that Portland is a special place with a never-ending supply of things to do, see, and experience. That got us thinking — we already spend our days helping you get the most out of our city. So what if we curated a collection of guides that will be updated and available anytime to help you navigate all our great city has to offer?
That’s just what we’ve done. Say hello to PDXtoday’s City Guide, your ultimate digital destination for the best ways to get out there and learn about the city you love.
We’ve broken the guides into three categories:
LIVE — Schools, neighborhoods, and unwritten rules of the city
WORK — Top industries, startups, and great spots to work outside
That just scratches the surface. We’ve got guides to local Airbnb and Vrbo rentals, navigating the airport, volunteer opportunities around town, and even where you and your pooch can grab a drink together.
Ready to get to know your city even better? Check out the link below. And if there’s a guide you’d love to see, send us a suggestion because this list of guides will just keep growing.
Oh, and one more thing. For all you marketing folks out there, we have one exclusive sponsorship available. We will feature your brand next to everywhere the guides appear in the newsletter, website, and social media. It’s an opportunity that won’t last long, so drop us a line.
Ahead of November’s elections, uncertainty reigns within City Hall over the exact cost of transitioning to Portland’s new, voter-approved form of government. Initial estimates put implementation of the system at $5 million over the first three years — a figure that’s now seen as “artificially low.” (The Oregonian/Oregon Live)
Transit
Portland’s potholes may live to see another day. The city’s Bureau of Transportation says it faces a $32 million shortfall in next year’s budget and road maintenance services sit on the chopping block. That could mean cutting 50-100 jobs and limitations to repaving and sidewalk upgrades. (The Oregonian/Oregon Live)
Coming Soon
Save your best hugs and kisses for XO Bar, a new cocktail hot spot with a Southeast Asian influence opening later this month in North Portland. The entire menu will be vegan, and through tropical drinks and island-inspired decor, owners say guests will enjoy a transportive experience. (Eater Portland)
Plan Ahead
The Oregon Museum of Science and Technology will soon host an equally wordy event — the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology. From Thursday, Aug. 3 to Sunday, Aug. 6, OMSI’s Empirical Theater and Theory Restaurant will show 119 films of diverse genres from all around the world.
Sports
On Friday, Diego Valeri signed a 1-day contract with the Timbers to officially retire in the green and gold. In 2022, the accomplished midfielder departed Portland for his boyhood club Lanús as the only player to win MLS Newcomer of the Year (2013), MLS Cup MVP (2015) and MLS MVP (2017).

Portland’s newest mural will pay homage to the city’s music scene, courtesy of local artist Jason Savage and the Pander Bros. — Jacob and Arnold — known for their Dark Horse Comics graphic novels. It will definitely add a bit of jazz and rock ‘n’ roll to the building (1130 SW Morrison St.) beside the downtown MAX turnaround.
