Can we get this news prepared double-double, animal-style? Fans of the burger chain In-N-Out will get the lingo — and be excited to hear that plans for a location in Beaverton have been reapproved following an unsuccessful appeal filed by local residents. The opening date is yet to be confirmed. (Eater Portland)

Cheers to the Land is a collaboration between craft beverage makers and the Oregon Agricultural Trust to protect farmland from encroaching development. Breweries and cideries will make products that highlight locally grown ingredients, selling them in local grocery stores + bottle shops and serving them in their taprooms starting Saturday, Oct. 12.
Outdoors
Feel the earth, move, under your feet. Geologists recorded six earthquakes around Mount Adams in September — the most in a month since recording began in 1982. The tremors around Washington’s second-tallest volcano were minor, ranging from magnitude 0.9 to 2; typically, earthquakes are measured there every two or three years. (KGW)
Weather
Although Portland doesn’t have to worry about hurricanes, there are plenty of freak weather events that can torment the region. You’ve heard of tornadoes, and possibly even waterspouts, but what about... a fog tsunami? (The Oregonian/Oregon Live)

Imagine your dream life in Portland. Maybe you’re thinking of better weather, easier transit, and freebies from your favorite local spots — but it can’t be that easy, right? We make the hypothetical rules here, and you can only pick two.
We took to Instagram to ask our followers to choose from these five dream scenarios:
Timbers/Blazers tickets for life
Consistent winter sunshine
Endless supply of your favorite local coffee
Smoke-free skies in summer
No rush hour traffic
Not surprisingly, the biggest winners were a traffic-free commute and clean, breathable air, but we want to hear from our readers, too. Cast your vote for the top two options you’d pick.
It seems like public transportation is the most-popular option here, with 46% of readers saying that’s their preferred method. Others said parking in a garage (31%) and street parking (15%), with a few shouts for riding a bike and getting dropped off by Uber.
I spent a wonderful-yet-busy Saturday with my family sipping fresh-hopped beer at TopWire Hop Project and celebrating my aunt’s retirement at Champoeg State Heritage Area. Yesterday, we also attended the Portland Greek Festival and feasted on gyros. Weekends don’t get much better than that.
