We’re not kiddin’ around.

From major attractions like the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry to hidden gems like Creo Chocolate, there’s something in the City of Roses for children of all ages.

Portland Child Art Studio
At these drop-off classes, it’s all about the process of making art and empowering young creators to be their unique, individual selves through artistic expression. Kids will remember bringing their own stories to life using the magic of their imaginations.

Westmoreland Park Nature Playground
Custom play elements designed with community feedback come together to create a special space full of nature-inspired obstacles and structures. Kids will remember the model boat pond and pretending to be explorers.

DiG PDX
Oregon’s largest indoor sandbox (we’re talking 4,000 sqft) features three themed areas — dinosaurs, construction, and the beach. Entry is $16 per child with two free guardians allowed. Kids will remember pretending to shovel to the center of the Earth.

Biz

It looks like The Sports Bra now comes in a multi-pack. The highly popular women’s sports bar is getting ready to expand to four new US cities: Indianapolis, Boston, Las Vegas, and St. Louis. Partially funded by Serena Williams’ husband + co-founder of Reddit Alexis Ohanian, Owner Jenny Nguyen hopes to open the new spots in 2026. (KGW)

Weather

Ready your fans and air conditioners, Portland. We’re in for some 90° weather on Saturday and Sunday, sitting just below record temps for June. Stay cool by visiting one of Portland’s public water features and drink plenty of water. (KGW)

Development

While we’re talking about swimming, the firms that will be responsible for designing the new North Portland Aquatic Center have been named. Scott Edwards Architecture and Perkins & Will will create the plans for the $91.5 million facility that should include two pools, a pavilion, and splash pad. Construction should start in 2027. (Portland Business Journal)

Community

A new privately-funded, 75-bed emergency women’s shelter is being planned for Northwest Portland. Operated by Blanchet House, Bethanie’s Room would be the second of two emergency shelters on the west side. Blanchet House hopes to open the NW 17th Avenue location by October. (KGW)

The Wrap

After four years living in the PNW after growing up in Tennessee, I think I’ve finally acclimatized to the cooler weather up here. Which means I am absolutely going to fry this weekend.
