Development
While we’re talking about swimming, the firms that will be responsible for designing the new North Portland Aquatic Center have been named. Scott Edwards Architecture and Perkins & Will will create the plans for the $91.5 million facility that should include two pools, a pavilion, and splash pad. Construction should start in 2027. A new privately-funded, 75-bed emergency women’s shelter is being planned for Northwest Portland. Operated by Blanchet House, Bethanie’s Room would be the second of two emergency shelters on the west side. Blanchet House hopes to open the NW 17th Avenue location by October. (KGW)
