We have Stars Hollow at home

Mount St. Helens rises over a hazy horizon with a light dusting of snow on its peak. In front you can see the blue stripe of the Columbia River and falls colors that blanket Portland. The Fremont Bridge's white arch peeks just above the evergreen trees in the foreground.

News Notes

A sign reads Southeast Stark Street, Historic District. There's also a double bulbed lamppost with a "bus right lane" sign, next to Next Adventure, a yellow and blue painted outdoor gear store in Southeast Portland.

Biz

Instead of shuttering all four stores as planned, new ownership will allow Next Adventure to keep two locations open. The 28-year-old Portland outdoor store will operate under an ownership model that involves some employee participation. (Oregon Public Broadcasting)

Civic

It may be a while longer before we see the replacement of the 99-year-old Burnside Bridge. The county delayed the project indefinitely due to uncertainty of fund availability — construction was recently estimated to cost as much as $1.8 billion. (DJC Oregon)

Coming Soon

Portland restaurant Canard recently opened its third location in Beaverton. The concept from James Beard Award-winning chef Gabriel Rucker is in the former location of the historic Beaverton Bakery — see the menu. (FOX 12)

Real Estate

One of the only brick rowhouses in Oregon sits in Nob Hill — and it’s for sale. The 132-year-old home is an end-unit and features 3,137 sqft with large windows, hand-carved millwork, stained glass, and floors made from Douglas fir culled from Forest Park.
