Portland Sunday Parkways brings the music with Boom Bike PDX

The mobile soundstage will bring live music performances to the summertime events.

The Boom Bike is a bike with a built in platform, where two people can sit and perform music while another pedals.

The bass keeps rolling, rollling, and rollin’.

We’re just over a month out from Portland Sunday Parkways, but we can already feel (and hear?) the excitement.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation announced this summer it will partner with Boom Bike PDX, a pedal-powered mobile soundstage that can carry up to 500 pounds of cargo to bring live music to the people.

On May 19 in East Portland, June 16 in Northeast Cully, and Sept. 22 in Southwest Portland, event organizers will transform stretches of the neighborhoods into car-free zones, inviting the community to get outside and ride (or walk) and engage with fellow residents and local businesses.

SoundsTruck NW and Make Music Day PDX will also be set up at parks along the routes.

Interested volunteers and vendors are invited to apply now.
