The business + economic landscape of the Portland metro area continues to grow in 2022, despite pandemic-related challenges. We’ve taken a look at the groundbreaking news to give you some quick highlights.

brookLAND , 4245 SE Milwaukie Ave.

Just blocks from the 17th & Holgate MAX stop, this 166-unit collaboration between Ethos Development + Hacker Architects is set to debut in November. A quarter of the units will be micro studios, but six three-bedroom apartments will be available to families making no more than 60% of the area median income. Urban mobility is a priority here — there are 240 bike parking spaces + 42 vehicle parking spaces, courtesy of a mechanical stacking system.

Waterleaf | South Waterfront

Adjacent to a Portland Streetcar station, this six-story BRIDGE Housing building will feature 178 units (all but two are affordable housing), ground-floor commercial space, communal areas, and an exterior playground. It’s set to be finished this summer.

Fairview Food Carts | Southeast corner of NE Halsey St. + NE 223rd Ave., Fairview

Plans for this pod consist of 16 food trucks, a covered food hall with a bar, bathrooms + a play area, all around a central plaza. A major component of the “Main Streets on Halsey ” project, this public-private partnership is still under construction with a mid-March completion goal, but the builder, P&C Construction, does offer a webcam to track the progress .

Patricia Reser Center for the Arts | 12725 SW Millikan Way #240, Beaverton

Set for a March opening, the world-class multidisciplinary center will feature a Mainstage Theater with 550 seats, an on-site, public art gallery, and ample meeting + workshop space. Located steps from the Beaverton Central MAX Station, the site (designed by Opsis Architecture ) will present concerts, plays + other cultural experiences, and is the first of its kind in the region in over 30 years.

Lake Oswego North Anchor | Northeast end of B Ave., Lake Oswego

There are two components of this project. The first will be a 77-room boutique hotel with ground-level dining + lounge areas that are open to the public; the second is a multifamily residential building containing 66 apartments, ideal for accessing downtown’s vibrant retail and restaurant core. The estimated start is summer 2022.

Psst … this list isn’t meant to be comprehensive. If there is a construction project you’d like to share with us, send it our way . We love hearing about new developments + businesses.
