Small Business Saturday, an initiative dedicated to celebrating and supporting small and locally-owned businesses + the impact they have in our communities, is on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The day falls between two of the biggest shopping days of the year — Black Friday and Cyber Monday — and has become an annual shopping tradition for many since its establishment by American Express in 2010.

If you’re looking to join in on the festivities this year, check out our list of some of our favorite small businesses in town — and some extra suggestions from our PDXtoday followers.

  • Sarah J. Handmade | Browse 30+ artists’ works and other fair trade items to find a perfect gift.
  • Fuchsia | You can shop locally + sustainably by checking out this resale shop that has items from brands like ModCloth, Free People, and Anthropologie.
  • The Baked Clay Studio | Make a statement with these vibrant polymer clay jewelry pieces.
  • Rose City Book Pub | A delicious recommendation from @juliettabekker: “It’s the most welcoming place! Great environment for independent creative work, reading, socializing and events, plus hearty food.”
  • Secondhand Pet Supply | From one pup to another — this shop is a great place to pick up treats for your best furry friend.
  • Hip Chicks Do Wine | Giffard’s Flowers says that this biz “has the best wine and 💕💕💕the owners.” This business-to-business rec says it all.
  • CoCo & Toulouse | Find handbags, earrings, wine glasses, nail polish, and all kinds of home decor.
  • Makerspace Sellwood | Learn how to make your own holiday gifts through one of this business’s classes or shop from a variety of locally made gifts like skincare products, cutting boards, cocktail syrups, or candles.
  • Azar Indulgences | It’s hard to go wrong with a chocolate bar as a gift and this Lebanese shop gets fancy with decadent options like the Dubai Pistachio-filled chocolate bar or blueberry Turkish delight.

Reminder: Shopping + supporting small isn’t limited to just this day — we love letting our local businesses shine all year long in our collection of City Guides.
