Montelupo grows twofold, expanding to Sellwood

The Italian restaurant and market’s second location will move into the former BAES Fried Chicken space, in between PDX Sliders and Oaks Bottom Public House.

The focacceria will sell slabs of freshly baked bread, using it for pizza and sandwiches too.

Montelupo says, “Focaccia?” We say, “Oh heck ya.”

The Italian restaurant on Northeast 28th Avenue, known for its fresh pasta and provisions to-go, is moving ahead with plans for a second location in Sellwood.

As soon as August, the aroma of freshly baked bread will waft along Southeast Bybee Boulevard, drawing shoppers into a market roughly the same size (and selling similar fare) as the original. It can be hard to resist loading your tote bag with take-home lasagna, imported olive oil, pastries, beer, and wine.

On site, the hungry shall not want, with Roman-style pizzas , focaccia sandwiches, salads, and appetizers rounding out the in-house menu. When it does open, daily hours will be 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
