Go green and check out these Portland Earth Day events

Turns out it’s easy being green at these local Earth Day events that include a ladybug releasing festival, a day at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery, and more.

Two people wearing tights, jackets, hiking shoes, and gloves sit on ground recently disturbed by planting activity on a sunny day.

If you still have a volunteer itch to scratch after Earth Day, check out groups like Friends of Trees that partners with other community organizations, like Tualatin Riverkeepers, to plant trees, shrubs, and pollinator-friendly flowers in local areas.

This Earth Day, make sure you don’t forget to shout out Earth for keeping us all grounded. Sorry, that pun was on a low-hanging branch.

Alright — all terra-ble jokes aside, Earth Day is on Tuesday, April 22 and many Portland organizations and community groups are hosting events that celebrate our local natural wonders and working to keep them nice and green.

Let’s dig into a few highlights.

Oregon Spring Cleanup | Saturday, April 12-Tuesday, April 22 | If flexibility is what you need to join the party, this statewide initiative is looking for volunteers throughout the week on projects like trash pick-ups (sometimes coupled with beer sipping), garden tending, and digging out pesky blackberry vines.

Oregon Garden Earth Day | Saturday, April 19 | If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, this celebration at the Oregon Garden comes with eco-friendly green vendors, face painting, a chance to meet Caesar the No-Drama Llama, and good food.

Earth Day 2025 | Saturday, April 26 | Local collective Making Earth Cool is hosting a rad little festival featuring a parade, seed collecting, a costume contest, and cake + tea potluck.
