The countdown is on. There are T-minus 56 days until Portland kiddos say “sayonara” to school until autumn. Don’t panic, parents. We’ve got you covered with seven local summer camps + programs for children of all ages to enjoy.

🌳 Outdoors

  • Trackers Earth Portland | 4617 SE Milwaukie Ave.
Among many other skills, kids can learn to survive when resources are scarce. Fittingly, there are few openings for these camps, so act quickly. Options include “Learn to Ride: Biking, Art & Adventure,” “Mariners Camp: Fishing, Navigation & Foraging,” and “Wilders Leadership: Animals, Farms & Forest Craft.”

🎨 Art

  • Portland Metro Arts | 9003 SE Stark St.
Kids in grades 1-6 can sign up for full day or half day camps, Monday-Friday, and explore their passions in dance, music, theater, and visual arts. In-depth summer workshops are available for middle + high schoolers too. The cost for one camp is $260, but there are multi-camp discounts, and a non-refundable $20 deposit is required to secure a spot.
  • PAM CUT | 934 SW Salmon St.
Weeklong sessions expose kids to puppetry, podcasting, fashion filmmaking, video game design, and DJing. Most run Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. — the exception being Frame by Frame: Stop Motion for Kids, which runs 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Certain age restrictions apply.

🎽 Athletics

  • Baxter Sports | Locations vary
From June through August, active kids ages 5-13, will learn a variety of games and valuable lessons in sportsmanship and teamwork with attentive coaches. Youth + competitive soccer (ages 14-18), dodgeball, and all-sports camps (flag football, basketball, capture the flag, kick ball, and more) are offered.
  • Nike Basketball Camps | Lewis & Clark College
Girls and boys will take part in collegiate-style drills + scrimmages to improve their game. Ball Handling/Shooting ($175) runs Monday-Thursday, 5-7 p.m., and Complete Skills ($395) sessions are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Note: Lunch is not provided.

🏕️ Sleep away

  • Camp Namanu, 10300 SE Camp Namanu Rd., Sandy
Lifelong memories + friendships await by the Sandy River, where kids can enjoy cookouts, hiking, swimming, boating, arts + crafts, exploring nature, and singing round the fire.
  • Camp Westwind, 7545 N Fraser Rd., Otis
Activities like fort building, canoe excursions, and archery just feel more exciting at the beach. Kids, plug your ears — parents, if being away from your child is too much to bear, there are also Friends & Family and Mother Child Camps.
