While snow days can be fun for many, it’s important to remember what this frigid weather means for Portland’s unhoused residents. Financial donations to shelters + nonprofits are always welcome — but gifting coats, blankets, or thick socks is especially important this time of year.
Here are several places where you can drop off those potentially life-saving items.
One Warm Coat
Accepting: Gently-worn coats
One Warm Coat has partnered with Eddie Bauer to collect gently-worn coats through March 31 at all locations. With a donation, shoppers receive an extra $10 off any in-store outerwear purchase.
Do Good Multnomah
Accepting: Winter weather gear, plus deodorant, toothbrushes, and other hygiene products.
This nonprofit has three programs that help houseless veterans get back on their feet. Email donations@dogoodmultnomah.org for drop-off instructions.
